Cake smash photo-shoots really are so much fun. They are a wonderful way to mark a 1st or 2nd birthday and really do make for wonderful keepsakes and great thank you cards following a childs birthday.
I have photographed a few hundred babies smashing into cakes and as such I have learnt a few tips along the way to get the best out of a cake smash photoshoot.
I know that patience and fun are both required when working with babies and young children. I work at your childs pace to get the best out of them.
I offer cake smash sessions all year round. If you have a particular date in mind then please do book with plenty of notice as sessions get booked up quite quickly.
This is especially true if you would like to book on a childs birthday or would like the photos ready for a childs birthday party
Booking is easy. Once we have selected a date and time for your Cake smash shoot I ask for a £20 deposit top book and then the balance on the day of the session.
What happens after my session
Following your session we will book in a date 2 - 3 weeks after your photo-shoot for you to come back and have a viewing of your fully edited photos. You will be able to choose the photos that you would like in your package and any others that you may want. I will of course be available to discuss options with you should you need advice on products and photo combinations.
I always discuss themes and colour options with my clients a few weeks before a cake smash session. I have a lot of props and colour options at the studio but for something very specific, it's always good to give me a few weeks so I can source what I need for the session.
As your baby will need to break into the cake I always suggest a cake covered in soft buttercream as opposed to royal icing; this is also great for making a real mess, which is for once what we want them to do :)
The style of the cake is up to you. It doesnt have to be a professionally made cake. I know a few supermarkets that do great cakes suitable for a birth cakesmash session. Or you can make one.. the choice is yours.
Yes. And its a lot of fun
